Video: Pellegrini looks to bounce back following Cardiff upset

Manuel Pellegrini was optimistic on Friday of reaching the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League after yesterdays draw, the Manchester City boss also looked ahead to Saturday’s English Premier League match with Hull.

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: What is your reaction to the Champions League draw?)“Well I think all are difficult groups, maybe one have more history in the Champions League than the other clubs but I am sure that the last year when (AC) Milan and Zenit (St Petersburg) knew that Malaga was in their group, I’m sure they were very happy, but after the Champions League it’s another thing. So I think we have a difficult group, we have chances to go to the round of 16 if we play well, because we have weaker teams.”

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: Was the 3-2 defeat to Cardiff City a good lesson for you, as a manager, about the Premier League?)“I don’t need to learn with the defeat that we had in Cardiff, I think that football, I know perfectly that it’s very difficult some moments to defensive piece, it was a bad game for us in that way. But I hope we must improve next game, because I repeat in every league it’s a very important thing every Sunday.”

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (Q: What do you know about Hull and what do you expect from them on Saturday?)“Well I saw the game that they played, the first two games in the Premier League, I thought that they played well against Chelsea, especially the second half. They have scored free kick also, I think the best moment. But I am sure we will have tomorrow a very difficult team here also, defending well and trying to counter-attack and we have to do a very good game if we want to win.”
