Yaya Toure: Didier Drogba tried to make me join Chelsea

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has confessed that Chelsea made an approach for him back in 2005, The Express reports.

The London club approached Toure while he was with Ukrainian club Metalurh Donetsk but the deal fell through and he joined Greek giants Olympiakos instead.

It was rumored that Toure shared cold vibes with Ivory Coast teammate Didier Drogba, a claim denied by the player.

“I have never had quarrels with Didier, contrary to what some claimed,” Toure told a national paper.

“Didier has been my long-time friend.

“He did everything possible for me to join Chelsea in 2005 and we have been close since then. Would your enemy ever want you to work with him in the same place?”

Toure left Barcelona and joined Manchester City in 2010, where he has established himself as the heart of City’s midfield.
