20 year old Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois is one of the most sought after footballers in Europe. The young Belgian goalkeeper, currently on his second season on loan at Atlético Madrid from FC Chelsea, has convinced top clubs about his talent and capability to be a great goalkeeper.Courtois kept 15 clean sheets in the 38 matches he played last season and his strong performances this season is also one of the reasons why Atlético are second in La Liga standings behind FC Barcelona, though most speak only about the exploits of striker Falcao.
Courtois last year was signed for 6 Million Euros from Belgian side KRC Genk, and with Petr Cech as clear number one, the Blues decided to loan Courtois out for two years to Atlético Madrid to gain experience while the Spanish side were looking for a replacement for David de Gea.
Courtois has a contract until 2016 at Chelsea and the club is considering to bring him back next summer to compete with Cech for the number one position, but his exploits in La Liga have been watched by rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are now considering to buy him if Chelsea are willing to sell. But the Londoners are said to be looking to extend his contract and give him a hefty pay rise.
Barca are looking at a potential long-term replacement for Victor Valdes while at Real Madrid, after last weekend’s snub of Iker Casillas by coach Jose Mourinho, who left him on the bench, the rivals from the capital might look to bring in a young, talented keeper like Courtois as competition to captain Casillas.
