"I’ll never do it again" - PGA Championship 2023 leader Brooks Koepka says he learned from his failure at the Masters

2023 PGA Championship - Round Three
Brooks Koepka takes the solo lead at 2023 PGA Championship after three rounds

For Brooks Koepka, it is another 54-hole lead at another major this season as he carded 66 on the third day of the 2023 PGA Championship. He holds a single-stroke lead over Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners at Oak Hill Country Club.

The conditions haven't been easy at this year's PGA Championship given only seven players are below par after three rounds of golf at Oak Hill. The tournament has witnessed rain, wind, and drastic temperature changes this week. Nevertheless, Koepka loves challenges like these.

"I'd like when it's difficult like today was super difficult," Koepka revealed in a post-round interview with CBS. "If it was hot for a minute, it was cold, and the wind, the rain. Pretty much had everything going today. So, difficult day, I'll take four under."

It was a similar situation for Koepka at the Masters last month when he headed into the fourth round with a two-stroke lead. However, a few errors on the final day dashed his hopes of wearing the green jacket.

The four-time Major Championship winner said after his runner-up finish at the Masters:

"I didn't really sleep. I figured out the mistakes I made, and I won't make them again."

The LIV Golf professional didn't go much into the details of the mistakes but said he would make sure not to repeat them this time.

He said:

"I know what I did, and I promise I won't show up like that tomorrow. I mean I won't have that thought process. It'll be completely different, and you know, see where see where it puts me. It was kind of kind of irritating."
"I'll never do it again, but it's just one of those things where if you can do what I'm trying to set out to do, then it's just up to playing good, and I should be all right."

When will Brooks Koepka resume playing at the 2023 Championship?

Brooks Koepka shot back-to-back 66 in the third round of the PGA Championship to take the solo lead at Oak Hill. He dug in five birdies and a single bogey on Saturday, aggregating at 6-under 54 holes. The former World No. 1 will tee off at 2:30 pm ET with Viktor Hovland.

Hovland is tied for second place alongside Corey Conners at 5-under. Conners was shaping up for the lead after a birdie on the 15th, but he missed a bogey put on the 17th hole finishing the third round at 70.
