Ferrari may be open to Le Mans return

Le Mans 24 hours Scrutineering

Ferrari may be open to a return, to top tier racing at Le Mans.

There has been quite a lot of speculation regarding the Italian car makers intentions of returning to the endurance race.

“It would be premature to say more about this particular topic”, Ferrari has told Top Gear. This clearly indicates that there is no denial to these rumours from Ferrari.

A spokesman from Ferrari has said that racing in the FI was something that will continue as long as there was the possibility of development of technology and the highest level of research and development for the Ferrari range of road cars, while giving the opportunity for a competitive race.

But while speaking on the opportunity for other races he added “In parallel to our Formula 1 programme, we have always paid close attention to other racing series, currently those run for GT cars, as these provide further opportunities for our technology transfer programme to road cars.

“In the past we also ran special projects, such as the one based on the FXX car and we have many other ideas we are currently working on,” he concluded.

Ferrari have a long history of association at La Sarthe, where they have been able to secure nine wins in the past, and have also been involved in various other battles in the 1960′s.

However, only time will tell if Ferrari will return to Le Mans.
