What to expect from season 9 episode 1 of Chicago Med?
When NBC renewed all three of the One Chicago series for an additional season in April 2022, it was confirmed that Chicago Med would be renewed for a ninth season.
As per TV Line, the ninth season of the series will have about 13 episodes. The limited production time owing to the Hollywood strikes is the primary cause of the low episode count. The thirteen-episode season would make this the shortest season of the medical series.
After an extremely suspenseful season 8, the series probably takes up where it left off with the doctors in season 9. Sasha Roiz as Jack Dayton, the fierce boss of the Chicago hospital, is fighting tooth and nail to save the hospital from becoming a for-profit facility.
The first episode of the ninth season is titled Row Row Row Your Boat on a Rocky Sea. The official synopsis of the episode, as per NBC, reads:
"When the E.D. is flooded with patients from a crash, the entire team is pulled in to help; Charles can't shake the feeling that he knows the new E.D. attending; Archer has second thoughts on the eve of his kidney transplant."
It is anticipated that the doctors at the Chicago hospital will be faced with quite an insurmountable challenge in the first episode of the ninth season itself. Fans should pay close attention to the altered power dynamics in the hospital following Dr. Will Halstead's (Nick Gehlfuss) departure. Season 9 of the series will have to decide who takes over Halstead's position at the hospital.
