5 Reasons Undertaker must beat Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam

Undertaker winds up on Brock Lesnar

Undertaker takes Brock Lesnar down on RawThe Undertakerscollision with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam is right around the corner. From the moment this match was announced, expectations among fans have been incredibly high and theyre only getting higher. Every time the two are under the same roof, chaos ensues and its that chaos thats driving this rivalry to the very top of WWE. While many fans have picked their favorite to win and Brock does have a lot of supporters going in, the fact is its a must-win scenario for The Deadman. The Undertaker is arguably the most popular Superstar in the history of Vince McMahons company. WWE has been his yard for 25 years and in all that time, no one has challenged him both physically and mentally like The Beast Incarnate has. Imagining Lesnar ending Takers undefeated streak was impossible for fans and imagining him winning the return match is just unthinkable. The Deadman has never been truly conquered by any Superstar and that cannot change now. SummerSlam must be his night.

#5 Taker\'s win sets up the rubber match

Undertaker winds up on Brock Lesnar

Just as WWE fans likely did not see this rematch coming, just as many likely cannot envision a third match not taking place. The money that will be made and the high profile intensity that accompanies this feud everywhere it goes cannot be denied. WWE would be foolish to not capitalize on this and that means SummerSlam will not be the end. The fact is these two make for some very compelling television.

But for that third match to happen, The Undertaker must win on August 23. The scenario is just too perfect and the players are much too good for anyone to believe Taker cannot find a way to beat his biggest adversary of all time. Brock wins match one, Taker wins match two and then the third match will be the deciding contest, the one that will finally determine just who the better man is. WrestleMania 30 was a shocker, SummerSlam will be full of intensity but match number three will be the final showdown.

#4 Brock must stay on the defensive

Lesnar on the WrestleMania stage

When Brock Lesnar wins, the world watches in awe. His swagger is off the charts and nothing can compare to the confidence Paul Heyman has in his most important client of all time. Brock the conqueror is one of a kind and is unbeatable. No man can touch him, no challenge is too great and he cannot be stopped. He is a god among men, a beast among powerless prey. He’s an intimidation machine and he is the most dangerous man in the industry.

But a Superstar with no competition is not a very compelling Superstar. As popular as he is and as dominating as he can be, Brock is truly at his best when he is being challenged by a man that can beat him. There is more drama in the hunt, when Lesnar goes on the prowl, than there is when he’s all alone on the mountaintop. Watching an angry and vengeful Brock Lesnar is like watching an uncaged animal go after its food and that’s the man WWE needs on TV. Nothing will anger Lesnar more than losing to Undertaker at SummerSlam.

#3 WWE has to justify the match itself

Taker stares down Lesnar

When The Deadman returned and attacked Brock Lesnar at Battleground, the wrestling world seemed to stop in its tracks. Why was this happening? Why did he wait so long to confront Brock and where was all this going? As fans waited for answers, Taker and Brock began prepping for the battle that was to come at SummerSlam. But in the meantime, Taker told the world why he came back and what his intentions were toward The Beast Incarnate.

But Taker’s reasoning sounded less like deadly retribution and more like whiny complaining. Being upset that Brock and Heyman bragged about beating him at WrestleMania 30 seemed like a far-fetched notion at best and was not very plausible. Lesnar was the hottest Superstar in WWE and by far the most popular; there was no reason to put the brakes on him, even for Taker’s sake. For this match to be justified in the eyes of the fans, Undertaker must win at SummerSlam. Otherwise, what was all this for in the first place?

#2 To rectify the loss from WrestleMania 30

Lesnar defeats Undertaker at WrestleMania 30

Brock Lesnar’s victory over Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 is a moment WWE fans will never forget. It was perhaps the most unexpected ending of any match in WWE history and the disgust levelled at it by fans all over the world has echoed in the months since. For many of them, nothing will ever justify Taker’s loss and nothing will ever erase it from their minds. But an Undertaker win at SummerSlam would be a great way to rectify that loss.

It could be considered a do-over, a way to ease the pain of seeing The Deadman dropping the biggest pin of his career. Despite how many fans have come to terms with what happened at WrestleMania 30, just as many have not and giving Undertaker the chance to regain his career momentum is a step in the right direction. This will not take away the loss at Mania of course, but it will put things right for many fans that never wanted to see the streak end in the first place.

#1 He must build to WrestleMania 32

Sting is the best opponent for Undertaker at WM 32

The Undertaker versus Sting is a match that the world has been waiting a lifetime to see. Of all the dream bouts featuring the top stars from past to present, this is the one that fans just cannot let go of. It’s the meeting of two industry icons, two giants in their sport and it’s a meeting that was believed would never take place. But now that Sting is on WWE’s payroll, it’s a match that absolutely must happen.

But it must happen at WrestleMania 32. The notion of who’s heel and who’s babyface is irrelevant at this point; all that matters is WWE gets this booked while both guys can still put on a great match. For that to truly work, Taker must come into it with some momentum and losing to Lesnar at SummerSlam is not the way to make that happen. Taker must look unbeatable, with his gimmick and mystique fully intact, before he faces the man called Sting. It will only add to the hype surrounding the match and will help ensure its overall success.
