Virat Kohli, having scored two good half-centuries in the first two matches of the series, was able to reach the three-figure mark at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. His run-a-ball 117 helped India reach a decent score of 295. He only scored 40 runs off boundaries, which is clear proof of how busy the Indian vice-captain is while at the crease.

India dismissed the Australian captain, Steven Smith for a relatively ‘cheap score’ as Smith edged Ravindra Jadeja to Ajinkya Rahane at first slip. Kohli made sure that Smith was aware of his presence with an ecstatic celebration.
