1977: Birth of Raul Gonzalez Blanco, commonly known as Raul. He went on to become Real Madrid’s all-time leader in goals and appearances. He currently plays for the Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd as a striker.

1997: After the departure of Joe Royle from Goodison Park in April the previous season, Everton called upon Howard Kendall to manage the club for a third time.

1980: Birth of Kevin Pietersen, a South African-born English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional off spin bowler who plays for England, Surrey and the Delhi Daredevils.1983: Birth of Dale Steyn, a fast bowler who plays in Test and One Day International cricket for South Africa. He became the fastest South African to take 100 Test wickets, beating Allan Donald’s 23 matches by two.
