Caitln Clark encourages herr Iowa fans to follow her play with the Indiana Fever

Caitlin Clark is about to enter the professional ranks and compete in the WNBA. Her selection to the Indiana Fever in the 2024 draft was indeed a national event that had millions of basketball fans tuning in. This marks a new chapter in the Iowa standout's life and many of her followers are excited to monitor her progress.

Inking her WNBA contract, Clark also secured a lucrative deal with Nike. Her popularity is evident after appearing on the sidelines during an Indiana Pacers playoff game which ignited the crowd into a frenzy.

Now that she is about to embark on a new basketball journey, she hopes that her Iowan supporters will continue to follow her as she plays for her new WNBA team, the Indiana Fever.

"That's what I'm excited for. Like, it's a new chapter. That's what I was ready for, and making this home, I expect a lot of Iowa fans to become Indiana Fever fans. They support women's basketball so well. I know a lot of them will be in the stands this summer cheering us on," said Clark.

The 22-year-old had quite a college career being named AP Player of the Year twice. She also bagged two of each of the Honda Sports Award, the James E. Sullivan Award, the John R. Wooden Award, the Naismith College Player of the Year, the USBWA National Player of the Year and the Wade Trophy during 2023 and 2024.

Caitlin Clark's Olympic roster slot still not guaranteed

With all the hype surrounding Caitlin Clark, her name is already included on the short list of WNBA players who are trying to secure a Team USA roster spot for the 2024 Olympics.

However, hype is not the basis for the USA national team to include you on the final roster as expressed by Selection Committee Chair Jennifer Rizzotti. In a recent report by the Associated Press, Rizzotti will be monitoring Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever games to determine if she deserves a slot.

“You always want to introduce new players into the pool whether it’s for now or the future. We stick to our principles of talent, obviously, positional fit, loyalty and experience. It’s got to be a combination of an entire body of work. It’s still not going to be fair to some people," Rizzoti said.

On May 3, Caitlin Clark will play her first pre-season game with the Indiana Fever against the Dallas Wings. The regular season starts on May 14, as the Fever are hosted by the Connecticut Sun.
