The year 2019 has started with immense fashion. Last night, Royal Rumble entertained fans as it has for decades. However, this PPV was arguably one of the greatest in history. It involved surprise entrants, debuting wrestlers, and new champions. In terms of match quality, well it was perhaps the best selection in years.

The Raw brand afforded excellent matches. Finn Balor battled Brock Lesnar. Whereas, Ronda Rousey took on Sasha Banks. The SmackDown brand offered Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles and The Miz and Shane McMahon vs The Bar. Overall the PPV proved the value of both brands.

During the Rumble matches, NXT and NXT UK talent made their impact, notably Pete Dunne, Rhea Ripley, Aleister Black, and Johhny Gargano, (watch the video below). The event has set up epic matches for WrestleMania and beyond.

#3 Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder

A recent reunion
A recent reunion

Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins both worked in New York Wrestling Connection prior to WWE. In 2005 they worked in the WWE developmental system and their characters were seeded. It was not until when their legacy began.

Fellow superstar Edge utilized their talents similar to the way Jinder Mahal would with the Singh Brothers on Raw.

Throughout 2007-2009 they garnered success becoming one time WWE Tag Team champions, and assisted Edge in his championship aspirations. Nevertheless, both wrestlers had years ahead of them, in particular, Ryder.

In 2009 Ryder was drafted to ECW and the team separated. Since then he has progressed to becoming; Intercontinental and United States Champion. Whereas, Hawkins has been maintaining a losing streak.

On January 21st, 2019 Hawkins was beaten down by The Revival. During the attack, Ryder entered the ring to save Hawkins, (watch the video below), leading to speculation about a reunion. This prospect is exciting for two specific reasons.

Firstly, their partnership was always energetic and exciting. Secondly, the Raw Tag Team division would immensely benefit from their return. What can we expect?

Finn Balor proved his worth at the Royal Rumble by nearly destroying Brock Lesnar. Never in past matches has Lesnar been challenged in such a convincing manner, (watch the video below). Although Balor was unsuccessful, he certainly brought the fight. This is by no means the end for his championship aspirations.

Seth Rollins is going to WrestleMania after winning the Royal Rumble match. Therefore, where does this leave Balor? Ultimately it does not necessarily matter. With a few months before WrestleMania 35, almost anything could happen. There is no guarantee Lesnar will be the Universal Champion in upcoming weeks.

Balor has immense potential to be successful. Moreover, he has exceptional ring credentials, especially when portraying his Demon character. Whether Balor defeats Lesnar before WrestleMania or the winner following WrestleMania, he will be Universal Champion once more in 2019. The future is expected to be exciting.

#1 Aleister Black makes his main roster debut

Black is ready for Raw or SmackDown

Aleister Black has been garnering immense success on the NXT brand since his debut with WWE. Moreover, he has portrayed a macabre character which could rival, if not surpass The Undertaker in the future. Interestingly he has yet to debut for Raw or SmackDown Live.

In recent months Black's focus has been the NXT Championship, of which he is a one-time former champion. At NXT Takeover: Phoenix Black battled Ciampa but was unsuccessful. It would seem their feud has culminated. However, what does this mean for the future?

During the Royal Rumble 2019, Black would enter number 21, and the crowd was extremely excited, (watch the video below). His total time in the ring was six minutes and nine seconds. Regardless, of the short stint, his actions made an impact. If Black debuted on Raw, it would be awesome. An awesome initial feud for him could be against Baron Corbin, who eliminated him from the Rumble match.
