5 WWE Superstars John Morrison could feud with if he decides to return

It's been years since we've seen John Morrison in WWE, and in that time, he's done great work in Hollywood, Lucha Underground, and most notably Impact, as the aptly named Johnny Impact. After winning their World Championship and having some fantastic matches along the way, his contract with the company is now up, and it's led to rumours and speculation that he could be returning to the company that made him a star.

As someone so talented with such a big name, there will be plenty of people chasing Johnny Impact/Nitro/Morrison/Mundo's contract, but we'd love to see him have one last, great run with WWE. While this isn't a guarantee, it's certainly a possibility, and with that in mind, today we are going to look at 5 opponents we'd love to see Morrison face most of all, if he were to return to WWE.

#5 Jeff Hardy

Before we all knew him as John Morrison, he was performing as Johnny Nitro, as a solo act and alongside Melina and Joey Mercury in the tag team MNM. During this time, Nitro had some incredible matches with Jeff Hardy, both as a solo performer and against The Hardy Boys, and it's a rivalry that we'd love to see re-ignited all these years later.

While Hardy has been injured quite often over the past few years, he can still tell a great story, and has great support from the WWE Universe, and two icons of a past generation would be a great match to see. Sure, neither of them are wrestlers they once were, and are unlikely to be seen as main event players, but the roster is deep in WWE, and if they tell a great story and save this one for a PPV, it could be a great way to get an old rivalry back.

#4 AJ Styles

In terms of similarity, AJ Styles may be the best current WWE comparison to John Morrison, and now that he's a heel, this would be the perfect first feud for Johnny Impact if he were to return to WWE. AJ has been good for so long and he can make a match with anyone great. Given some creative freedom, The Club and John Morrison could make for some fantastic TV, worthy of any Championship in WWE.

Despite both being in the wrestling business for quite some time, these two have never faced off against each other, and despite both getting to the wrong end of their careers, they can still go in the ring like no other. This would have been much better 5-6 years ago, but both men are still fantastic, and it would be another in a long line of dream matches for AJ Styles during his WWE career.

#3 Ricochet

In his early days, Johnny Nitro who later became John Morrison was the best high-flyer in WWE, but today, that mantle is carried by The One and Only, and the current Unitest States Champion, Ricochet. The two clashed in Lucha Underground a few years ago, and despite the short length of their contests, they were amazing. Given more time, these two could create utter magic once again.

Ricochet has looked incredible since coming to the main roster, and if the company allow him to show off more of his character and natural charisma, he's no doubt going to be a main event talent in the near future. While it would be hard to see Morrison as a World Champion in WWE, he'd no doubt feature in the main event scene, and putting over stars like Ricochet to the next level would be the perfect way to utilise him.

#2 The Miz

In terms of history, there's no one in WWE that Morrison has more with, as The Miz has been his partner and rival during Morrison's first stint in WWE. The Miz has improved out of sight since the two were last in the ring together, but have remained friends behind the scenes, and it's a rivalry that both men would love to reignite.

The Miz needs a heated rivalry to get him going again, and if WWE can bring back The Shaman of Sexy, they'd no doubt have a killer feud going into SummerSlam or Survivor Series. Morrison has made it clear in interviews that he'd love to have one last feud with The Miz (and perhaps even team with him), and if he is to return to WWE sometime in 2019, this is the rivalry that should re-introduce him to the WWE Universe.

#1 Aleister Black

As we mentioned, during his time away from wrestling, Morrison tried his hand in Hollywood and going up against a performer with the aura of Aleister Black that will come in handy. The two are polar opposites, and with all of Black's recent promos, building that to a bout with John Morrison could make for a big PPV match, and a star-making performance for the former NXT Champion.

In terms of in-ring style, both men are similar, but their differences would compliment each other perfectly. Even though Morrison is getting older, he can still go with the best of them in the squared circle. If he does indeed return, Morrison will have plenty of dream matches, week in and week out, but some of them need to be saved for big PPV's and great stories, and this is one that would certainly benefit from that.
