What’s the story?

A possible spoiler regarding a WWE Championship Match has been circulating the interwebs as of late.

Apparently, the arena that’s set to host the WWE Extreme Rules PPV later this year, has been advertising a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE is a global organization that puts forth several TV tapings, PPVs, as well as house shows the world over.

Considering the humongous volume of WWE events that take place on an annual basis, the promotion does indeed focus on intensive local advertising—at times, months in advance—so as to attract fans to a nearby WWE event.

The heart of the matter

The WWE’s 2018 Extreme Rules PPV is set to be hosted by the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this July.

The arena is now reportedly advertising a Triple Threat Match that will see WWE Champion AJ Styles defend his title against Shinsuke Nakamura and Baron Corbin, at Extreme Rules.

This, in turn, has set the professional wrestling community abuzz regarding speculation that the aforementioned matchup could, in fact, be a realistic possibility; well after the WWE Championship is defended at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV (April 27th), Backlash (May 6th) as well as Money In The Bank (June 17th).

Although all WWE cards advertised are subject to change, experts note that generally, the WWE ends up putting forth matchups that are similar to what’s been advertised beforehand. Fans can check out the advertisement below—

What’s next?

WWE Champion AJ Styles continues his feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, as the latter attacked Styles once again on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, a couple of days after having left Styles reeling at WrestleMania 34.

Baron Corbin is yet to enter the WWE Championship picture—with said title’s landscape currently featuring only Styles and Nakamura.

The WWE’s Extreme Rules PPV takes place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 15th.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, it’s about time that Baron Corbin finally asserts his dominance in the WWE.

Besides, WWE could add another layer to the ongoing AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura WWE Championship feud; with the inclusion of Corbin to the storyline.
