Is Dean Ambrose the Turn that turns Roman Reigns the most?

Ambrose might just be the hump for Reigns to cross into being ‘over’ with the crowd

Maybe I have this idea of a Roman Reigns heel turn all wrong. Maybe I have been overthinking this a bit too much. Should WWE do the “thinkable” and make the next savior of the company the newest heel champion (based on rumors of a feud over the WWE Title and John Cena) or should everyone leave Vince McMahon’s heir apparent alone and allow the dominoes to fall around him?

It’s not far-fetched as it may sound to think the walls around the former Shield member might crack, thus letting nature to take its course and Reigns will at some point become the WWE World Champion, which would delight the chairman of WWE more than Tom Brady winning another Super Bowl for the city of Boston.

The modis operandi for Reigns has been to align himself with superstars who carry plenty of weight within the company.

• The Rock comes out at the Royal Rumble to throw his support toward the winner of the ticket to WrestleMania.
• Daniel Bryan goes toe-to-toe with the up and coming star, only to lose – but in the process puts the young neophyte over with the fans.
• Randy Orton wrestled a series of solid matches with Reigns, once again putting him over with the fans.
• The failed experiment with Brock Lesnar that ultimately led to Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and taking home the WWE World Title at WrestleMania.
• Bray Wyatt has been making Reigns the better face – taking his game to another level, pushing him farther than he has been in his WWE career.

All of these wrestlers have done enough to help Reigns solidify his position on the company ladder. Anything short of a confrontation with Cena right couldn’t do much more to help in his elevation. The only thing that might make a difference is the interaction with Reigns and his current BFF Dean Ambrose as Hell in a Cell approaches.

The unkindest cut of all could prove to the shot in the heart that makes Reigns the man everyone wants to see with gold around his waist. Would the Dean Ambrose heel turn make it all better for his friend, who seems to be putting distance between the two of them in this tension-filled (and rather drawn out scenario) program?

By god, get it over with already.

There is no clear path for Ambrose in his future with the company. The “Lunatic Fringe” is on the outside looking in on the main event scene. He has carried Reigns to some extent, and while he has looked fabulous in programs with Rollins, it is Reigns who is expected to create Armeggedon for the company and forge ahead a new and bright tomorrow. But anyone can see Rollins and Ambrose are light years ahead of the third member of the Shield’s party. He is progressing – but still raw and uncooked.

An Ambrose heel turn at HIAC not only creates a new storyline, it gets Reigns over once again with the crowd, this time with sympathetic eyes toward making sure he gets the man and eventually gets the title.

When this happens is unknown, but the stage is set for Ambrose to cost Reigns the match at HIAC. Greed, lunacy, a way to get back in the title picture – they all work as reasons. Now, all we want to see is action or something that will make us buy into this idea. A seed is planted. All the fans want is to see its growth.

Let’s hope the creative team can plant something worth watching at the pay-per-view because right now the holding pattern is doing nothing for either wrestler. And we all know if something doesn’t happen soon, then it’s another opportunity lost for a good storyline and an even better match of old friends in the future.
