Is The Rock set for retirement?

The Rock

Former WWE champion The Rock was last seen in his match against John Cena for the WWE title at WrestleMania 29, which he eventually lost. He was reportedly injured during the match and is still recovering from it. There were also speculations regarding him feuding with Brock Lesnar in the near future, and also of a possible Rock vs Brock match at WrestleMania 30.

But, in his latest interview, The Rock hinted at the WrestleMania 29 match against Cena being possibly his last. On being asked if the WrestleMania 29 match was his last, the People’s Champion said:

“Possibly, to be honest with you. The goal three years ago was I sat down with Vince McMahon and strategized about it, about three WrestleMania’s back to back…I committed myself to the company and I was very proud of that moment. It didn’t matter if I lost or I did the job, but it was an honor to do the honors. There is no better way to give back…then by doing the honors.”

Well, considering his huge contribution to WWE and the stature he has maintained in the industry all these years, is it the right way the People’s Champion deserves to retire? Shouldn’t the man who has possibly the largest fan following among all the WWE superstars be given a starry farewell? If Ric Flair and other legends got it, then why not The Rock? Is The Rock not left with enough gas in him to prolong his wrestling career, or is his busy movie schedule the reason behind his move? Check out what The Rock had to say regarding his retirement in the audio clip of his latest interview with Peter Rosenberg below.
