NXT: 5 Points to Note (August 30, 2017)

There is a new faction running things in the brand
There is a new faction running things in the brand

As we embark on a brand new era of NXT, we feel like this was quite a promising start. NXT has a new champion, brand new tag team champions and a woman whose future is uncertain, leading the women's division. At the same time, there are a bunch of renegades running things, blindsiding people when they least expect it to happen.

This was an entertaining episode, enveloped in chaos. The chaos should bleed out until the next Takeover event, where we should ideally see some kind of resolution with regard to the current matter. How did the first episode in the fallout of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III play out? We list 5 points to note!

#5 Chaos reigns supreme in NXT

The ROH gang is running wild
The ROH gang is running wild

Remember how NXT used to be once the most exciting WWE brand and we couldn't wait to tune in every single week? We believe that the rogue crew of Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish will bring back some of that thrill to the product, in the weeks that follow. The show began with the entire locker room seen laid out backstage, almost in new like fashion. The show closed with the three weaselly men ganging up on the NXT Champion, Drew McIntyre, and being chased out of the arena by NXT GM, William Regal.

The cloud of uncertainty that hangs over Full Sail Arena, with regard to the objectives of these three men keeps the product fresh and interesting, to us. What are their motives and what devious plans do they have next? Is Adam Cole next in line for McIntyre's Championship? Are reDragon gunning for SAnitY's belts, in the coming weeks on NXT?

This particular angle was the most thrilling thing on the show, but we also saw the culmination of an old feud.

#4 A sweet ending to a bitter tale

Roderick Strong stood tall at the end of this glorious match
Roderick Strong stood tall at the end of this glorious match

Bobby Roode left NXT with the best match he's wrestled for the brand. While he dropped the title to Drew McIntyre at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III and thereafter made his SmackDown Live debut, there was always some unfinished business he needed to take care of. His feud with Roderick Strong was a compelling one, a personal one, a vicious one.

The two men took each other to the limit in this match, as both men targeted each other's back, and told a thrilling tale of revenge, taunting and insulting one another during the course of the match. Ultimately, Bobby Roode fell to the 'End of the Heartache' and moved on to the main roster, at long last.

The crowd knew it was the end for Roode as they thanked him before the match even began. Roode is a possible WWE Champion in the future, and we wish him all the best for his run on SmackDown Live.

We're afraid there may be yet another departure from NXT too.

#3 Bad news or terrible news?

What announcement will the NXT Women's Champion make, next week on NXT?
What announcement will the NXT Women's Champion make, next week on NXT?

If you've read the spoilers that emerged on the internet not so long ago, move on to the next page. If you haven't, let's ponder together with regard to what's next for Asuka, who suffered a collarbone injury during her match with Ember Moon, at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III where she won the title match and extended her reign of dominance. It cannot be anything good because judging by the seriousness of her injury, she may not be able to defend it in time for the next Takeover. Asuka comes back to Full Sail Arena in 7 days and we wonder what the future holds for this exemplary woman.

Will a new challenger emerge for Asuka next week? Will she make an announcement with regard to her own future, next week? Join us in 7 days as we reveal The Empress' big plans.

2: Singles push for WWE's next Brock Lesnar?

Will Lars Sullivan slowly rise the ranks?
Will Lars Sullivan slowly rise through the NXT ranks?

Lars Sullivan seems like the kind of man you want in your corner if a bar fight breaks out. Judging by his track record, however, he is actually the man you do not want in such a situation, really.

Sullivan has taken out three of his tag team partners for eating pins, and faces all three next week, as punishment for his heinous crime. This is much like the multi-man matches Braun Strowman used to be booked in, during his initial push as a singles competitor, shortly following the brand split.

Could Sullivan live up to the hype and become the next breakout star for WWE? People have him pegged as the next Brock Lesnar, but it's a long road to the top of the mountain. Let's wish him all the best and hope that he does manage to climb to the pinnacle very soon.

#1 Unfinished business next week

Expect a barn burner next week
Expect a barn burner, very soon

Yes, Hideo Itami was booked in a match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, but much like the Bobby Roode vs. Roderick Strong duel, the match next week feels far more important than the clash that transpired at Barclays Center. Imagine the possibilities as these two men seemingly end their rivalry in a no-DQ match next week on NXT TV. In fact, a match of this nature is also a great setup to have a run in and introduce the next feud for both men.

Will Almas move up the ranks, in coming weeks?
Will Almas move up the ranks, in coming weeks?

Bononi scored a shocking victory over Almas only a few weeks ago. Next week, Almas, bolstered by Zelina Vega in his corner, seeks retribution against the Brazilian.
