WWE in attempts to erase former employee

According to WrestlingDVDNews.com, the WWE did major edits to their latest History of WWE DVD in order to erase the presence of former announcer Mel Phillips.

The legendary match featuring Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant in WrestleMania III was shown in the DVD without commentary and from a singular camera angle to serve the purpose. The company did so because of the exposure of Phillips as a pedophile who used to take advantage of underage males that he used to supervise at live events.

Tom Cole, who worked for the company in 80s and 90s was the first to press charges against Phillips and the incident kicked off a sex scandal which plagued the company for years. Cole claimed in 1992 that former wrestler Terry Garvin tried to seduce him before being sexually harassed by Phillips at the age of thirteen.

“When you’re twelve or thirteen-years-old and you think this guy is wrestling with you, and then he grabs your foot, maybe part of you doesn’t want to believe it or part of you wants to block it out. I just didn’t have an answer for it. Who would have told you at that age that some guy wants to play with your feet?,” Cole recalled in a recent interview.

The whereabouts of Phillips still remains as a mystery in the wrestling world but the latest DVD has hurled back the attention on to him.
