WWE 2K17 was first shown with a trailer that had Goldberg in it which got people to speculate on his return. As history has shown that legends who make a return in the game tend to make a return on the main roster as well. Many speculated that he may be back in time for a match at Wrestlemania 33, perhaps even revisiting a feud against Lesnar after 12 or 13 years?The second official trailer featured Lesnar (who is on the cover of the game) and “Suplex City”. It turns out that “Suplex City” is going to be a larger theme of the game than it appears. 2K issued a statement:
“You're cordially invited to the most dangerous place on earth – Suplex City – in a new interactive map. Buried within the city limits are clues to the legion of WWE Superstars and Legends that make up the roster of WWE 2K17, and it's up to you to find them.””Once you enter Suplex City, you’ll be able to navigate its various neighborhoods (new areas unlock every week throughout August after IGN’s roster reveals).”The player is expected to click on objects on the map that seem to be clues pointing to a specific WWE superstar or legend that appears on the roster. A text box appears for the player to guess the name of the roster member. If the guess is correct, then the player is given a roster graphic of the WWE Superstar, along with any other characters correctly guessed.
