“The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles has been on an all time high ever since he defeated John Cena at SummerSlam. Now with Cena out of the picture “The New Face of Smackdown Live”, Styles, has now set his eyes on winning Dean Ambrose’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Styles is scheduled to square-off against Ambrose at Smackdown Live’s exclusive PPV, Backlash on September 11, 2016.
This past Tuesday AJ Styles participated in an interview with 105.3 THE FAN and talked about the rumoured The Rock vs. Vin Diesel match at Wrestlemania 33. Styles said that it was the “craziest matchup ever” but, said that WWE “would probably do it”. The match between The Rock and Vin Diesel is a publicity stunt for their next year’s Fast and the Furious film.
The interviewer also asked Styles regarding which celebrity he would like to have a match with. Styles replied that he wanted to face actor and producer Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg in the past starred in a movie called “Daddy’s Home”, which had a cameo from none other Styles’ arch-nemesis, John Cena.
Styles didn’t explain why he wanted to fight Wahlberg but said that he wants to see how he matches up with the Hollywood star, as Mark Wahlberg is pretty fit himself. Styles added that he’s also a fan of old hip-hop and has jammed out to “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch a few times.
Considering it is WWE it might be really interesting to see a Styles/Wahlberg feud at Mania, as a lot of celebrities have already stepped inside the squared circle with most of them succeeding. Past celebrities include Ken Jeong, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Federline, Hugh Jackman etc. But, I don’t think another high profile Pro-Wrestler vs. Celebrity match will take place at mania because of the Rock/Diesel and Shaq/Big Show matches already rumoured and possibly in the works.
Oh yes! Just like The Rock and Vin Diesel, Shaquille O’Neal is also slated to square off against the Big Show at Wrestlemania 33. Shaq participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale, but unfortunately got eliminated. Thus, Show and Shaq might have a match at the Grand-daddy of them all.
