CM Punk and Colt Cabana have been friends for over a decade and a half. Their friendship stemmed from them breaking into the wrestling business together. CM Punk went on to achieve great things in his professional wrestling career, both with Ring of Honor and with the WWE. He eventually even became the longest reigning WWE Champion of this century. Cabana as well has gone on to become one of the most established independent wrestlers on the planet. When asked, “Who are the people who make/have made great money through the indies?”, the answer is always “The Young Bucks, Alberto El Patron, and Colt Cabana”, among other names. He is a well-respected veteran on the indies.Cabana most famously came to light in November 2014, when CM Punk did a “tell-all” two-part podcast with him, explaining in great detail over why he left the WWE, and other experiences there.
CM Punk and Colt Cabana’s 15+ year friendship is apparently over, according to MMA insider Front Row Brian. Front Row Brian has an extremely accurate record. He noted that Punk and Cabana are no longer following each other on twitter. The issue stemmed from that fact that Punk was furious at Cabana when he attended Monday Night Raw, and also went backstage and took pictures. The reason why Punk was furious is seemingly because he believes that Cabana being backstage at Raw hurts his defense against WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann.Punk and Cabana were sued last year by Dr. Chris Amann after Punk went on Cabana’s podcast and insulted WWE and Amann for the way they handled his injuries while he was still working for them. The case is ongoing and as of it now it is believed that there was a trial call date set for May 21, 2018. Naturally, we don’t know either parties point of view in this case, but it is always sad to see long friendships go down the toilet, especially one clearly as close as Punk and Cabana.
