Former WWE Universal champion Finn Balor was the latest guest on Jim Ross' The Ross Report where he talked about Seth Rollins, New Japan Pro Wrestling and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview thanks to wrestlingInc:
Talking about his SummerSlam opponent, Seth Rollins who is often labeled as an unsafe opponent, Balor said that people are entitled to their opinion but if you work as much as him, you are supposed to get hurt occasionally. He said:
"Well, people are entitled to their opinions, but as far as my opinion goes is that I've been hurt a lot of times working and it was never with Seth Rollins. Obviously, if you work a lot, you get hurt occasionally and this just happened to be a coincidence that it was in there with Seth. As far as I'm concerned, Seth is one of, if not the best, performer that we have in this business. And I think all the flak he gets is totally unwarranted. any kind of flak he gets about being unsafe is completely ridiculous."
On the question of whether he still watches NJPW where he was one of the most prominent stars before being signed by WWE, Balor said that he has not watched it since leaving the company about 2 and a half years ago:
"Believe it or not, I have not watched any New Japan since I left there 2 and a half years ago. I have not watched one match. It's funny. I guess I'm so focused on what I'm doing right now and trying to kind of throw myself head first into what I'm doing now that I don't really want to be distracted by different styles or, like, what was the past, because, like, don't get me wrong, I loved my time in New Japan and I've still got a lot of friends there and the work is incredible, but it's not something that I want to be influenced by right now. So I think that kind of going back and watching that is just kind of going to set me back."
Speaking of his return, the former NXT Champion said that he hopes to make a big comeback and mentioned how it would be a good story to tell due to the timing of the injury:
‘There's never a good time to get injured, but I'm trying to look at the silver lining and six months down the line, hopefully, there'll be a big comeback. If this injury had to happen two or three weeks earlier, obviously, the effects would have been a lot worse. But the way it happened, I guess, if it was going to happen, it's a good story to tell when I'm coming back in six months' time."
Finn Balor is expected to miss at least 6 months of in-ring action due to the shoulder injury he suffered during his SummerSlam match against Seth Rollins
