WWE News: Former Intercontinental Champion leaves RAW after contract spat

Ryback has been on the receiving end of late

A couple of weeks after Ryback dropped hints of parting ways with the WWE because he was unhappy with his character’s booking, it appears that things have come to a head between the Big Guy and the biggest name in wrestling.

Ryback was conspicuous in his absence on tonight’s RAW, and wrestlinginc.com reports that the former Intercontinental and United States Champion will be off WWE programming after he was sent home following a contract dispute. There were murmurs that it was he who asked to be kept off TV.

We reported last month that Ryback was dissatisfied with his direction in the company and his booking in the last three WrestleManias. The 34-year-old didn’t hide his disappointment when he spoke about not having made it to the main event spot:

“I've heard in this business hard work doesn't always pay off. So maybe The Big Guy has to go find another world where that does pay off. But you work really, really hard at something and you dedicate yourself, and you sometimes have to be told you're somewhere else.

“That's a tough pill to swallow time and time again but I've never stopped believing in myself and I never will. Next year should undoubtedly be a big year for The Big Guy.”

With his contract approaching expiry and him and the WWE not seeing eye-to-eye, it’s fair to speculate if we’ll see him on ROH or NJPW.
