WWE News: Interesting Jinder Mahal statistic revealed

Mahal’s win took a lot of people by surprise

What's the story?

As reported by Wrestling Inc, an interesting Jinder Mahal statistic has been revealed in the wake of his shocking victory on this week's edition of SmackDown LIVE. Mahal defeated five other superstars in a Six Pack Challenge to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship.

In case you didn't know...

Mahal's victory shocked fans around the world, especially considering that he'd spent the majority of his tenure in WWE as nothing more than a jobber. Following his win, however, he has been thrust straight into the main event picture where he will meet Randy Orton at Backlash for a chance to become the new WWE Champion.

The heart of the matter

The statistic is that the win on Tuesday's SmackDown LIVE was Mahal's first televised SmackDown victory since October 9th, 2012. It was on that show that he teamed with Heath Slater to defeat Santino Marella & Zack Ryder, with his last match of any kind for the blue brand coming in the form of a loss to El Torito on May 27th, 2014.

What's next?

It seems likely that Mahal will start to rack up a host of victories in the build up to Backlash, with many fans believing that he doesn't have a chance of beating Orton for the title. With the addition of The Bollywood Boyz, we can likely expect to see a lot more of Mahal and this new stable moving forward.

Author's take

Say what you will about this decision, but it's still going to be interesting to see how Jinder fares in the main event picture. With the mass amount of pay per views scheduled for the next few months, it makes sense to start building up new stars, and Jinder has certainly paid his dues during his time with the company. Who knows, perhaps we may be seeing the emergence of WWE's next great top heel.
