What's the story?

This week's Christmas Day Raw saw Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships after they defeated The Bar in the main event.

After Raw went off the air, a Last Man Standing match took place in Chicago featuring Braun Strowman and Kane.

In case you didn't know...

Braun Strowman and Kane faced each other in a Number One Contender match for the Universal title two weeks ago, but the contest ended in a double count-out.

Last week on Raw, Kurt Angle announced that both Strowman and Kane would face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble in a triple threat match for the Universal Championship.

The heart of the matter

After Raw went off the air, Kurt Angle congratulated his son and Seth Rollins on winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Titles.

After they went to the back, Kane and Braun Strowman faced each other in a Last Man Standing Match. The Monster Among Men was able to pick up the win over the Devil's Favourite Demon and gained momentum ahead of their clash at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

What's next?

Braun Strowman and Kane are set to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Lesnar will return to Raw on the New Year's Day show.

Author's take

The fact that Kane is going to share a ring with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble is an indictment of WWE's inability to create new stars. The company even decided to feed the likes of Finn Balor and Seth Rollins to Kane in the weeks following Survivor Series. Is it any wonder that nobody can connect with the audience?
