WWE News: What happened before SmackDown LIVE went on the air

SmackDown Live has plenty of talent to work with

What's the story?

As reported by Wrestling Inc, there was a dark match that took place prior to SmackDown Live going on air in Louisville, Kentucky. The bout saw Tyler Breeze and Fandango, also known as The Fashion Police, defeat the former NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension.

In case you didn't know...

Breeze and Fandango, who also go by the name Breezango, have been floundering in SmackDown Live's tag team division for a while now with no real purpose. Prior to their partnership, both men were stuck in a rut when it came to their singles careers, with WWE hoping that a partnership between the two men would give them some kind of purpose.

The Heart of the matter

As we previously mentioned, Breeze and Fandango were able to pick up a dark match victory over The Ascension in a decent enough match. The former NXT Tag Team Champions have also experienced some bad luck over the last few years, with WWE failing to really capitalise on the momentum that they had when they were first called up to the main roster.

What's next?

WWE appears to be hitting the reset button when it comes to SD Live's tag team division, with Primo & Epico and The New Day entering the fray to try and breathe some new life into the product. With the blue brand having less to work with than their Monday Night Raw counterparts, we may well see these two teams be given a chance to shine in the coming months.

Author's take

Breeze & Fandango work brilliantly well together as a tag team and to be honest, they don't even need the fashion police gimmick to get over. If they play their individual characters together as one team like they did back at the start of their partnership, then they can do great things together.
