Sting carefree on losing to Rollins, Cena preferred over Sting and more

Lemme give you a little bit of Sting

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Sting revealed his comments on competing against younger stars, his legacy and his decision for signing with WWE.

Sting, being the superstar he is, is confident for his Night of the Champions title against Seth Rollins. Even though it came as a surprise to Sting, he took the opportunity because he believed that it’s worth putting up against younger stars albeit, he didn’t specifically had a desire to. He also praised Seth Rollins in the process.

“If presented to me, I would wanna walk through that door, because there are so many new, young, incredibly talented people – Seth being the best, I believe, as far as creativity and innovation in the ring. So you just can’t get much better than this. It’s just the nature of our business. Everything is always subject to change, and you never know what’s gonna happen next. It was unexpected for me too, but again, the door opened, and I chose to walk through it,” said Sting.

Sting also quoted that his matches are no more about his legacy being “Sting” anymore. He further explains why he’s carefree about the results of the Title match as he doesn't have a problem losing since it isn't about Sting it is about him being a veteran who doesn't need to win against younger talents.

“I had my time. There’s no question about that. For a guy my age to be where I am right now is, to me, next to impossible. And yet, I’m here. It’s not about Sting, not anymore. That’s it, and I am just fine with that,” he was quoted.

The 56-year-old also expresses his gratitude towards WWE as he said, “It has been gratifying. After 30 years, I’ve learned to really appreciate the fans and the wrestlers and everybody in the whole industry a lot more. I held off on doing [public appearances] until WWE, and now I’m picking and choosing some things that I’m doing here and there, Comic-Cons and whatever. And the fans are so respectful, so there’s a much higher level of appreciation now than there ever was.”
