WWE WrestleMania 35: 3 reasons why Brock Lesnar will retain the Universal Championship at the PPV

Brock Lesnar!

The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania, is just around the corner. There are plenty of exciting match-ups scheduled for the show with the two main matches being the RAW Women's Championship and the Universal Championship.

The Kingslayer, Seth Rollins, won the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view and then went on to challenge the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, for the Universal Championship.

These two are no strangers to each other as Rollins has faced Lesnar before at the 2015 Royal Rumble and Battleground pay-per-views. Both times, the result swung in Brock Lesnar's favor, though the victory wasn't clean.

Seth Rollins will be looking for retribution at the 35th anniversary. While Rollins is a heavy favorite to dethrone the Beast, I will give you 3 reasons why Brock Lesnar will retain the Universal Title at the biggest PPV of the year.

#3 Being fit for his UFC return

Lesnar will probably fight Cormier in August!
Lesnar will probably fight Cormier in August!

It is finally looking like Brock Lesnar is all set to step foot inside the Octagon once again. It has been heavily rumored that Lesnar will leave the WWE after WrestleMania to fight in the Octagon.

ESPN's Ariel Helwani gave an update on the situation and said that the UFC wants him back and Lesnar himself wants to return to the company.

If Lesnar goes back to the UFC, we may see the inevitable heavyweight title fight between him and Daniel Cormier in August.

Lesnar is over 40 years old now, and he last fought for the UFC at the UFC 200 PPV and defeated the Australian Mark Hunt. Lesnar’s win was eventually awarded a No Contest as the former UFC Champion tested positive during a post-fight drug test.

If Lesnar indeed plans to return, he might refuse to have a grueling match with Seth Rollins in order to be a hundred percent fit for his UFC return, the same way he refused to do anything at WrestleMania 32 against Dean Ambrose and that match ended up being a disaster, and if the match turns out to be short, there is no way Seth Rollins will be crowned as the new Universal Champion at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

#2 Vince McMahon wants him to stay

Lesnar is a huge draw!
Lesnar is a huge draw!

The only reason Brock Lesnar is still the Universal Champion is that he is a huge draw. Lesnar is a legitimate beast who could kill anybody with his bare hands. Lesnar is a money maker. In fact, in his first 5 UFC PPV’s, he headlined 3. He was the highest paid UFC fighter of 2010 and ESPN ranked him in the top 30 highest paid athletes. So it’s clear that the guy is money.

Whether we love him or hate him, he’s bringing prestige to the Universal Championship. Remember the old days when Hogan and Warrior or Savage weren’t on TV with the title all the time? The good old days when it was a spectacle to see the champion defend his title, or to really even show up with it?

Lesnar is that champion, and I don’t care if he won’t be around every single week. Should he be at every single PPV? It would be a good idea for sure, but if he missed one pay-per-view, people would be more excited to see him destroy someone at the next pay-per-view.

If Brock Lesnar brings all that intrigue whenever he shows up, then why would Vince McMahon get rid of Lesnar anytime soon? If he wants Lesnar to stay in the WWE, then pleasing the Beast with a victory over Seth Rollins would be in the books. After all, that was the reason he retained his championship a year ago at WrestleMania 34 against Roman Reigns.

#1 It's not the main event

The females will headline WrestleMania this year!
The females will headline WrestleMania this year!

While Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins is a huge match on paper, it has lacked the intrigue a top match should have heading into the Grandest Stage of Them All.

The match that has made the most buzz is the triple threat match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship.

On Sunday night, professional wrestling will witness history and see something that has never been seen before. For the first time ever, the main event of WrestleMania will feature a women's match, and the credit goes to Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch for the most part.

WWE has made a valiant effort in making the women's division credible since 2016, thanks to the #GiveDivasAChance hashtag trending on Twitter for days. The women already made history when they headlined the Hell in a Cell event and even got their own pay-per-view. The only accomplishment the ladies didn't achieve was a WrestleMania main event, but it's becoming a reality this year.

While it's good news for the wrestling world, it could turn into bad news for Seth Rollins as the Universal Championship won't headline the event. It could lead to the Beast Incarnate retaining his title since Vince McMahon will probably not allow a huge moment like conquering the Beast to happen in the middle of the card.

I think Lesnar defeats Seth Rollins and loses it on the next big pay-per-view, probably in Saudi Arabia, while WrestleMania goes off the air with Becky Lynch as dual Champion in a crowd-pleasing moment.
