Delving into the history of Minecraft, the game has included numerous Easter eggs, like naming mobs to turn them upside down. However, in celebration of the video game's 15th anniversary, Google has joined the party with a unique Easter egg on its search engine.

Google frequently creates Easter eggs to celebrate notable events and cultural milestones. One such Easter egg has been dedicated to Minecraft, showcasing the game's immense popularity and the impact it has had on the world of gaming.

In this article, we explore how to access the new Minecraft Easter egg on Google and learn more about Mojang's plans for celebrating the game's success.

Minecraft celebrated its 15th anniversary on May 17, and in celebration of reaching this significant milestone while maintaining its remarkable success, Google has now added an Easter egg that allows players to enjoy the game directly on their website.

When users search for "Minecraft" on their search engine, they'll notice the game's logo at the bottom. Clicking on it takes them to an Easter egg where they can play a simplified version of the game online.

While playing, clicking on a search result transforms it into different pieces of terrain from Minecraft. Here, players can interact with blocks by clicking on them to mine items. They'll hear the same mining sound as in the original game, and mining wood provides them with a pickaxe.

Players can upgrade their pickaxe up to the Netherite level by mining ores, which they can find by scrolling downwards and unlocking more pieces of terrain. The deeper the player scrolls, the more valuable ores appear, and eventually, they can discover the Nether and End dimensions.

Additionally, players may also encounter TNT blocks. Clicking on these blocks causes them to explode, producing the original explosion sound.

Given that the Easter egg has been available on Google even before the anniversary day, it's evident that it's not a one-day event. However, its duration remains unknown.

Plans for the 15th anniversary celebration

To mark the game's 15th anniversary, the team at Mojang plans to give away free goodies to the community. Bedrock Edition players will receive 15 free character creator items, one each day, from May 15 to 29.

Additionally, the game has been discounted by 50%, and free anniversary capes will be given away to both Bedrock and Java Edition players.
