Choosing the best skills to unlock in Another Crab's Treasure can be a bit daunting, especially since the title never really tells you how or when you can do so. While you can go through the entirety of the game without ever unlocking a single additional combat skill for your crustacean avatar, doing so isn't really recommended, especially for a combat-focused game like this.

Fortunately, you can unlock new combat skills, including a few necessary ones like Parry and Reposte, pretty early in the game. Although the skill tree is visible from the main menu, you cannot unlock new skills from there. New combat skills can be acquired as soon as you meet the Moon Snail in their domain.

You will also need to interact with them to level your character up. Once you do meet up with the Moon Snail, you must decide carefully on which skills you should spend your hard-earned points first. Here are some of the best skills to unlock Another Crab's Treasure.

Here are some of the best skills to unlock in Another Crab's Treasure

1) Parry

Much like in Sekiro or Stellar Blade, Parry in Another Crab's Treasure is easily the most useful skill in the game, since it not only allows you to negate incoming damage but also lets you immediately retaliate with a counterattack. While it is a bit jarring to see the game lock such an essential skill behind a skill tree, Parry can be unlocked quite early. As such, you should not miss out on it.

Before you unlock Parry, the only way to avoid damage is to duck into your shell (Guard), which doesn't allow you to initiate a counterattack. However, once you unlock Parry, releasing the Guard command as soon as an attack is about to hit lets you do a critical strike.

2) Self Repair

Self Repair, while not a necessary skill, is still very useful in order to increase your survivability in Another Crab's Treasure. The Self Repair skill basically takes a page out of Bloodborne's "rally mechanic" where you can regain a bit of the lost health of your shell by attacking enemies immediately after getting hit. A critical attack can even heal your entire HP.

Mixing this skill with Parry and Riposte, you can easily keep the health of Kril's shell topped off at almost all times.

3) Riposte

Riposte is a skill that's basically a necessity if you unlock Parry. While Parrying lets you follow up with a quick few melee swipes of your own as a counterattack, with Riposte unlocked you can turn that counterattack into a critical strike dealing a significant amount of damage; it can even be a one-shot killing smaller mob enemies in Another Crab's Treasure.

Additionally, pair Riposte with Self Heal and you will basically have an endless supply of healing as long as you can properly time your parries, that is.

4) Scrap Hammer

Scrap Hammer is easily the best active skill you can have equipped to not only buff your standard attacks, but also equip two shells at a time. This can make combat encounters much more manageable, especially in the early sections of Another Crab's Treasure. Scrap Hammer essentially allows you to charge your attack to skewer an enemy shell instantly.

Doing so results in adding a damage modifier to your primary weapon. It also gives you the ability to swap the shell on your back with that on your weapon to get access to different shell types at the same time.
