Saina Nehwal knocked out in the quarter-finals of the All England Championships

Saina Nehwal couldn’t hold on to her advantage in both games

India's Saina Nehwal crashed out in the quarter-finals of the 2016 All England Championships after losing 21-15 21-16 to Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei on Friday.

The opening game saw Saina start off on a positive note as she took a 3-0 lead in the opening game, but Tzu, who had defeated the Indian in the Dubai Superseries Finals last year, took control soon enough, first equalling the score at 5-5 before taking the lead and heading into the interval at 11-8.

The other end of the interval, the Indian continued to remain in the game but just when it looked like she was going to gain an upper hand, her 9th ranked opponent pegged her back with a superb cross-court shot, that she employed at different intervals in the match and eventually clinched the game 21-15.

The second game began on a similar note as the first, but Saina, after beginning well, once again lost the advantage and chased the game there after throughout to lose it 21-16. Her loss also brought to an end the Indian challenge at the prestigious event.

Final Scoreline- Tzu Ying Tai beat Saina Nehwal 21-15 21-16
