Former MLB star Hank Aaron once expressed his dissatisfaction at Houston Astros players escaping severe punishments after the sign-stealing scandal.

On the Today Show in 2020, he said that the players involved in the scandal should be banned for life:

"I think whoever did that should be out of baseball the rest of their life.”

An MLB investigation in 2020 confirmed that the Astros had used cameras to decipher opposing teams' signals during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Players would then knock on garbage cans to indicate what kind of pitch was coming.

After the cheating scandal, AJ Hinch and Jeff Luhnow were banned, and later dismissed, but no players were suspended.

The team was also hit with a $5 million fine and lost future draft picks.
