Born on May 29, 1998, Austin Tyler Reaves is a German-American professional basketball player. He joined the Los Angeles Lakers team in 2021 and will soon be starting his third season with them. Austin had a keen interest in basketball since childhood and played basketball for Cedar High School at a young age.

During his senior year of high school, Austin averaged 32.5 points and 8.8 rebounds and was rewarded with a Class 3A state title. He had an impressive performance in four games of his senior year, averaging 43.3 points. Later, he was selected as MVP of the state tournament.

In 2016, Austin Reaves attended the Wichita State Shockers men’s basketball team. He missed many games during his first year due to surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He participated in many championships in his sophomore year, averaging 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

After his second year with the Wichita, he transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team, where he scored a career-high 41 points. During his senior season, he averaged 18.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and was honoured with the First Team All-Big 12 award. On March 31, Austin decided to forgo his college and entered the 2021 NBA draft.

After weeks of negotiation, Austin was signed to a standard NBA contract.

On October 22, 2021, Austin participated in his first match of the season against the Phoenix Suns, scoring eight points off the bench. On April 19, 2022, Austin Reaves recorded his first triple-double of his career, grabbing career-high points, assists and rebounds.

He was in top form on March 19, 2023, delivering a career-best performance of 35 points, six rebounds, and six assists off the bench in the Lakers’ 111-105 victory over the Orlando Magic. In March 2023, Austin signed an endorsement deal with the Chinese sports apparel brand Rigorer. The first signature shoe, “AR1”, was expected to release in May 2023.

On April 16, 2023, In the first game of the First Round of the playoff series, Austin tallied 23 points in a 128-112 win over the Memphis Grizzlies and replicated that incredible performance in Game 4, propelling the Lakers to a thrilling 117-111 overtime win. The Lakers would go on to the Western Conference Finals but they ended up getting swept by the eventual NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets.
