Dennis Schroder is a basketball point guard who plays for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. Born on September 15, 1993, in Braunschweig, Germany, Schroder began his professional career in 2010 with SG Braunschweig, the farm team of Phantoms Braunschweig. In his rookie season with SUM Baskets Braunschweig, he averaged 7.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game, where he played until 2013. After being selected to play in the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit for the World Select Team, Schroder declared for the 2013 NBA Draft. The Atlanta Hawks selected him with the 17th overall pick. His rookie NBA season saw limited playing time, appearing in 49 games and averaging 3.7 points in 13.1 minutes per game.

Schroder spent his first five NBA seasons with the Hawks before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 25, 2018. During the 2019-20 season with the Thunder, he led all bench players in scoring with 18.9 points per game while shooting career-highs of 46.9% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. His performance earned him second place in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting behind Montrezl Harrell. 2020 Schroder was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, followed by a move to the Boston Celtics in 2021. In February 2024, Schroder was traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with Thaddeus Young in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie. He made an immediate impact in his Nets debut on February 10, recording 15 points and 12 assists in a 123-103 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Throughout his 12-year NBA career spanning seven teams, Schroder has averaged 14.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 43.5% from the field and 34.5% from three-point range as of November 2024. He owns his hometown team, Basketball Loewen Braunschweig of the Basketball Bundesliga, and has achieved significant success with the German national team.

Major Injuries Sustained by Dennis Schroder in NBA

Ankle Injury (March 2018)

According to Bleacher Report, In March 2018, while playing for the Atlanta Hawks, Schroder suffered a medial bone bruise and a sprained left ankle. The injury forced him to miss the final seven games of the season. At the time of the injury, he was the Hawks' leading scorer, averaging 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per game. An MRI confirmed the severity of the injury, and Schroder returned to action the following season.

Shoulder Injury (March 2022)

During his stint with the Houston Rockets in March 2022, Schroder was sidelined for the remainder of the 2021-22 season due to a shoulder injury. Before the injury, he had played 15 games for the Rockets, averaging 10.9 points and 5.9 assists per game, as per Sports Illustrated.

Thumb Injury (October 2022)

As per CBS Sports, Schroder underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his right thumb. The injury occurred during a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The procedure required several weeks of recovery, with doctors scheduling a re-evaluation three weeks after the surgery.
