The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup MVP, and a member of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup winning German team, Dennis Schröder is a professional basketball player in the NBA. Born on September 15, 1993, in Braunschweig, Germany, he plays as a point guard for the Brooklyn Nets.

He led his team to the recently concluded FIBA basketball World Cup Championship in 2023. The German team remained undefeated, beating top-ranked teams like the USA and Australia. He averaged 17.9 points and 6.7 assists and was named the tournament MVP. He helped his team reach the quarter-finals in 2017 and helped them secure Bronze in the EuroBasket 2022 and was named to the EuroBasket All-Tournament team.

He made a name for himself before announcing himself for the NBA. He played for Phantoms Braunschweig and was named the league’s Best Young German Player and the league’s Most Improved Player. He played for the World Select Team at the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit and scored 18 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds in 29 minutes to help his team register a win. Selected as the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, Schröder participated in the Rising Stars Challenge and scored 13 points, 9 assists and 3 steals.
