Dorian Finney Smith is a professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets. He attended I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he averaged 19.7 points, six assists and 13 rebounds per game as a junior. The following year, Smith averaged 18 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game in his senior year and helped his team win back-to-back Group AAA State championships and also won All-Tidewater Player of the Year. After school, he decided to join Virginia Tech University for college basketball and joined there in 2011. He made it to the ACC-All Freshman team in 2012 following a solid season in which he averaged 6.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He later transferred to the University of Florida in 2013 and was there till 2016. There he won SEC Sixth Man of the Year in 2014 and made it to the Second Team All-SEC twice in 2015 and 2016.

Smith declared for the 2016 NBA Draft but unfortunately was not drafted. He later signed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks on July 8, 2016, and averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game and also played 81 games that season coming off the bench. He was later included in the starting lineup and has proved himself to be a capable player for teams across the NBA. He went to the Brooklyn Nets in 2023 and averaged 8.5 points, 1.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game in the 2023-24 season for the Nets where he played 68 games and started in 56 of them.
