Before becoming a reliable NBA veteran, Harrison Barnes enjoyed a decorated high school career at Ames High School in Iowa. He led the school to back-to-back state titles in his junior and senior years while earning multiple player of the year and scoring titles for the state of Iowa.

Barnes later attended the University of North Carolina, playing two seasons of college basketball under renowned coach Roy Williams. As a freshman, Barnes helped lead North Carolina to an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He was named First Team All-ACC and to the All-Rookie Team after averaging 15.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

In his sophomore season, Barnes helped the Tar Heels make it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. Barnes' two solid college seasons cemented him as a lottery pick in the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft.

The Golden State Warriors selected Barnes with the 7th overall in 2012. Though he started slowly, Barnes ultimately became a versatile defensive stopper for the Warriors, able to guard multiple positions with his 6 ’8” height and 225 pound weight.

In Barnes’ third season, he started all 21 playoff games during the Warriors’ successful title run in 2015. Though just a role player, Barnes played lockdown defence and provided enough offence to perfectly complement team leaders Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. That early career championship ring would be the only one so far for Barnes.

After four seasons in Golden State, Barnes left in free agency to the Dallas Mavericks in 2016. He spent three seasons there, putting up the best scoring numbers of his career so far while starting nearly every game that season.

In 2019, Barnes was traded to the Sacramento Kings where he has found stability over the last four seasons. In the 2022-23 season, a 30-year old Barnes started all 82 games for just the second time in his steady 11-year career, and averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting career bests in field goal percentage and 3-point percentage.

Barnes' contributions helped the Kings return to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. They made the Play-In Tournament before being eliminated in a tightly contested Western Conference. Still, the season marked major progress for both Barnes and the Kings in their efforts to try and build a perennial championship contender.

Now entering his 12th NBA season, Barnes continues to be a versatile, durable two-way player. While championship rings have eluded him after that lone 2015 title, Barnes remains focused on bringing his veteran leadership each night to help Sacramento take the next step.

Harrison Barnes Rings

In his 11 seasons so far in the NBA, Harrison Barnes has only won one championship ring. He achieved that feat in the 2014-15 season as a key rotation player for the Golden State Warriors.

That year, Barnes started all 21 playoff games during the Warriors successful title run, culminating in the franchise's first championship since 1975. Though Barnes was not an All-Star, he played a pivotal supporting role at small forward.

Over the course of the full season, Barnes started an impressive 103 out of 103 games that he appeared in. During the regular season and playoffs combined, he averaged 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists while playing strong wing defence.
