LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball is one of the fanciest players in the NBA. The way he can drop dimes and handle the rock is exquisite to watch. His stardom goes way back and he grew up in the spotlight alongside his family that involves famous personalities LaVar Ball (father), Lonzo Ball (brother), and LiAngelo Ball (brother).

Lonzo Ball was one of the best players coming out of UCLA to get drafted in the NBA. He was the second overall pick in 2017. Meanwhile, LaMelo Ball was drafted in 2020 with the third overall pick. In high school, LaMelo once dropped 92 points while playing for the Chino Hills.

When the Ball brothers were younger they even had their own premium signature shoe line. The ball family had their own merchandise known as the Big Baller Brand or BBB.

LaMelo Ball Team

LaMelo Ball plays for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA. He was the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft behind players Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman. During the time LaMelo was drafted, Michael Jordan was one of the majority owners of the Charlotte Hornets organization, but he recently sold his majority stake for an estimated $3 billion.

The Hornets have not been a playoff team in a while. Even though there are many talented players like Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward, they still do not have enough to compete with the big boys in the eastern conference like the Boston Celtics or the Milwaukee Bucks.

The organization’s centerpiece is obviously LaMelo Ball, but he needs more talent around him to compete in the playoffs. Their defense as a team is what holds them back from winning more games. They still have a lot of ground to make up for going into the 2023-24 season.

LaMelo Ball Playing Position

LaMelo Ball plays the point guard spot for the Hornets. He is easily one of the best distributors in the league and can throw out dimes in a simple or a flashy way. Ball also has a deep 3-pt range and can pull up from 35-40 feet from the basket.

Whether it is a simple dribble hand-off or coming off of an off-ball screen, Ball has the talent to score the basketball in multiple ways. He has some of the smoothest games in the league today. So far in his career LaMelo has averaged 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists while shooting 42.6% from the field, including 37.7% from deep.

He recently signed a $260 million extension with the Hornets and has also set his eyes on the NBA MVP and first-team honors this upcoming season. We may very well see the best of LaMelo this season.
