He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison campus in Madison, Wisconsin, where he played for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team from 2020 to 2022. During his two seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers, Davis was named the 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year, the Naismith National Player of the Week, and the 2022 Lute Olson National Player of the Year. He finished his collegiate career with 830 points scored, 383 rebounds grabbed, and 101 assists made over 62 games. Davis declared for the 2022 NBA Draft on March 31, 2022, forgoing his college eligibility.
Davis was selected as the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 draft by the Washington Wizards. Additionally, he played for the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League.
