They were ranked as the No. 1 team in national rankings. As a senior, Newell averaged 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 67.6% from the field. Montverde finished the season with a 35-0 record and was labeled as the consensus No. 1 team in the country. He also received an honorable mention in the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School All-America team.
