Barrett Carter is a linebacker who played four seasons on the Clemson Tigers football roster. He was born in Suwanee, Georgia, and attended North Gwinnett High School. He was labeled a five-star recruit by 247Sports, with an overall ranking of No. 17 player in the nation. Throughout his collegiate career, he played in 52 games, had 233 tackles, 33.0 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, 21 pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries. In 2024, he contributed four tackles against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and recorded one pass breakup against Appalachian State.

Barrett Carter had a remarkable season in 2022, as he earned a selection in the fourth-team All-American team by Phil Steele. He was also recognized as a first-team All-ACC player by several recruiting networks. Throughout that season, he made 77 tackles, recorded 10.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 13 games. As per his Clemson Tigers profile, he is the only player in Power Five history to chart 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, multiple interceptions, and forced fumbles in a single season. For that season, Carter received a selection in the 2023 All-Bowl team and appeared in the Gator Bowl. As a senior in 2024, Carter recorded 82 tackles, taking his tally to 233 in his collegiate career. In December 2024, Carter decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
