Barett Carter is a linebacker for the Clemson Tigers and played the 2024 season as a senior. He is a native of Suwanee, Georgia, and graduated from North Gwinnett High School. Carter at North Gwinnett was remarkable; he was rated as a five-star prospect and was ranked as one of the best linebackers in the country. He was ranked as the No. 17 overall player by 247Sports, he was also the Maxwell Football Club's National Defensive Player of the Year. Carter was a dual-threat player, rushing for 429 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season, and also making 38 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and five sacks in seven games. He completed his high school career with 162 total tackles and 18 sacks and was named to the All-American Bowl. After his high school football career, he earned offers from some of the top programs, including the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Auburn Tigers. However, decided to play college football for the Clemson Tigers at Clemson University.
