Barrett Carter is a linebacker who was on the roster of the Clemson Tigers football team from 2021 to 2024. He began playing football at North Gwinnett High School, where he tallied 73 tackles and 10 sacks in 13 games in his junior year. Barrett Carter was selected to participate in the All-American Bowl, and he concluded his prep career with 162 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks, as per Clemson Tigers' roster page. Barrett Carter was named the second-best linebacker in the country by 247Sports. He was ranked the No.17 player by 247Sports and was rated a five-star athlete in the 2021 recruiting class.

Carter started his college football journey with the Clemson Tigers in 2021 and totaled 16 tackles in his freshman campaign (via Sports Reference). In 2022, as a sophomore, Carter tallied 73 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. Last season, as a senior, Carter was named a Butkus Award finalist and capped his college career with his personal-best 82 tackles and 11 tackles for loss. Following the 2024 regular season, Carter decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
