Barrett Carter is a linebacker and played the 2024 season as a senior for the Clemson Tigers. He hails from Suwanee, Georgia, and attended North Gwinnett High School. Carter is a two-time All-American linebacker. He registered 2,482 snaps in 52 games and started in 40 games, which is more than any other linebacker in Tiger’s history. Carter made 254 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, 24 pass breakups, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Carter earned the All-ACC selection twice and was a finalist for the 2024 Butkus Award, becoming just the seventh player in Clemson history to earn that honor. Off the field, he was committed to community service and was the quarter-finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy in 2023 and the semifinalist in 2024.
Barrett Carter had a remarkable career at North Gwinnett High School in Georgia, where he became one of the nation's best prospects. He was rated as a five-star prospect, the No. 17 player in the country overall and the nation's second-best linebacker by 247Sports. He was also the Defensive National High School Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club. In the 2020 state playoffs, he rushed for 197 yards, eight tackles, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. For the season, he rushed for 429 yards and 10 touchdowns, with 38 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and five sacks defensively. Throughout his high school career, he had 162 tackles, of which 27 were for loss and 18 were sacks. Carter was selected to play in the exclusive All-American Bowl and committed to Clemson in May 2020.
