IPL 6: Match 11 - KXIP vs CSK - A statistical preview

Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings - IPL 2012

In the previous 10 meetings between the Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab, the former leads the Kings XI Punjab 6-3 in terms of win-loss ratio, while the other match ended in a thrilling tie where KXIP came on top in the Super Over.

In IPL 2012 though, KXIP won both the league ties against CSK. At Chennai they won a hard-fought encounter by seven runs. In the corresponding fixture they crushed CSK by six wickets at Dharamsala. Today’s match will be held at Mohali.

When these two teams meet it’s virtually impossible to predict the outcome as Kings XI has won four of their previous five IPL matches against Super Kings. Before that, they lost five in a row against them!

Suresh Raina needs only three sixes to become the second player, after Chris Gayle, to get to 100 sixes in the IPL. Adam Gilchrist is third on the list, with 87 sixes.

MS Dhoni has scored three fifties in eight matches against Kings XI, at a phenomenal strike rate of 155.55

David Hussey holds the record of being the second-most capped player in T20 cricket. The 35-year old has made 199 appearances in T20 with 4829 runs against his name. He is the third highest on list of most run-getters in T20 cricket.

What’s next in store for teams: Kings XI Punjab will travel to Jaipur to take on the buoyant Rajasthan Royals on April 14.

Chennai Super Kings will be back in their den, to host Royal Challengers Bangalore in what will be a feisty southern derby on April 13.
