Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne said that he was pleased with his performance in the side’s Capital One Cup win over Arsenal, and insisted to Het Laatste Nieuws that he has been working hard to regain his place. This follows questions over the Belgian’s attitude, with manager Jose Mourinho reportedly unimpressed with his performances in training and matches.

“I work hard on training. The manager has told me I’m doing well, but everyone in the team wants to play,”

“We’ve [got a] squad of 25 players. And if you look around, they’re all world class.”

On the match De Bruyne continued; “The manager has told me I played a good game”,

“It wasn’t a bad game. The whole team played well, defensively and in the attack. That’s what the manager also told us during half time. Our victory was a deserved one.”

Reports have previously suggested that De Bruyne will be seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge, having become frustrated with a lack of first team oppurtunities, a claim the winger refused to be drawn on.

“To be honest, I haven’t thought about it [a move] yet. I know something has to change. Sooner or later, I will have to play,”

“But what can I do at this moment besides training hard and keeping quiet? I feel really strong at this time – I think I have never been this fit before. I got a lot of support of family and friends who visit me over here.

“My team-mates have been fantastic. You know, I haven’t worried much about my situation. My career has always gone up, but then it’s sometimes normal it makes a horizontal line.”

De Bruyne made a key pass or assist every 35 minutes for Wolfsburg last season, a number that has drifted to every 42 minutes over his brief league appearances for Chelsea.
