Gareth Bale celebrates scoring his late winning goal on the final day of the season against Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

Gareth Bale is ready to give the Tottenham fans a huge boost as he is set to sign a new contract to stay at the White Hart Lane. The Welsh star looks to commit himself to the club for at least another season but however, his new contract is said to include a buyout clause that would allow him to leave the club next summer.

The 23-year-old, who scored his 31st goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Sunderland on the final day of the season, is said to stay at the club with a deal worth £130,000-a-week. Despite Tottenham failing to qualify for the Champions League and the Welshman being a target of a number of top clubs across Europe, Bale will commit his future to the club for at least another year.

Prior to Sunday’s game against Sunderland, chairman Daniel Levy said: “Looking ahead to the summer, we shall continue to seek to strengthen and improve the team and to retain key players.”

However, it is believed that the club would be willing to sell him in the coming 12 months if they received an offer in excess of £50million.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas said:“This is an ongoing question but it’s absolutely fine. If we want to make it better next season we have to hold on to our best assets and this is what I have been told from the top. The reference from the points tally is there so for us to make it better we need to keep hold of the best assets. It is very difficult to lure a player of this dimension away.”
