Indian ODI and T20 Captain MS Dhoni was seen playing football for Silli Sports Academy against Ranchi XI at Silli Astro Turf Stadium. After the triumphant One-day series against Zimbabwe in June, the Indian captain is enjoying some leisure time with his family and is taking part in some of his favourite activities.
Reports stated that Dhoni was also spending more time in the gym and took part in the football match to increase his stamina and endurance. The Indian star said that he enjoys playing football which is his favourite sport after cricket.
The Indian skipper started his career as a footballer and even played it till district level. The Silli Astro Turf Stadium, near the Jharkhand capital Ranchi, saw a huge crowd when Dhoni played a full 90-minute football match with professionally trained football players even during heavy rainfall.

Silli Sports Academy is a sports facility promoted by Mahi’s friend Sudesh Mahato, who is an equally talented soccer player. Dhoni played a crucial role and assisted at least two goals by skillfully dribbling and passing the ball to the right player. His team defeated the opponent Ranchi XI by a scoreline of 6-2.
The Stadium was filled to capacity with cheering fans all throughout the match. The audience was reverberating with the chants of “Mahi…Mahi” as the local hero displayed his endurance, agility and moves on the ground. He exhibited exemplary soccer prowess throughout the 90-minutes.
The player seemed quite excited about the victory and said “I played a full soccer match after a long time and enjoyed it thoroughly”, he was quoted by the Hindustan Times.
He was playing in the forward-left position and was also the most active members of the team. Sudesh Mahato, who organised the game and was himself playing in the midfield for Mahi’s team, said that Dhoni’s presence motivated the team. “Dhoni’s presence in the field is a great motivation for other players. There is so much to learn from him,”

After the match was over, Dhoni felicitated two girls who had won National awards in Wushu Championships.
The skipper may be seen in the short International T20 series which is planned to take place in the US. Otherwise, his next match would be during the international series against New Zealand in October.
