Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has shared his elation and his thoughts after signing a new long-term contract with the club.

Saka's new contract with the Gunners expires in the summer of 2027 and is worth £300,000 per week, as per Evening Standard. The youngster has been one of the most crucial players for the club ever since making his senior debut in 2018.

After the announcement of his new contract on Tuesday (May 23), Saka shared his thoughts, saying:

“I’m just really happy. There’s been a lot of talking and it’s been a while, but I’m here now. I think this is the right club, the right place to make the next step. It’s a beautiful club - look where we are. For me, it’s about achieving my personal ambitions; how much I push myself and demand from myself each game, week in, week out."

He added:

"Then I have all the right people around me in terms of family, and when I come to the training ground, my teammates, the coaching staff. I think I have everything I need to become the best player I can be, and that’s why I’m happy to stay here and be here for the future, because I really believe that we can achieve big things.”

Saka helped Arsenal fight for the Premier League title this season but they fell short towards the end as Manchester City lifted the crown. The English winger contributed 13 goals and 11 assists in 37 league games for the Gunners this campaign.

Bukayo Saka's numbers for Arsenal

Saka came through the north London club's academy and made his senior debut in the UEFA Europa League in November 2018. He came on as a substitute against Vorskla Poltava in place of Aaron Ramsey. He made his Premier League debut against Fulham in January 2019 as a substitute for Alex Iwobi.

The Englishman has scored 37 goals and provided 40 assists in 178 senior games for the Gunners. Saka also won Arsenal's Player of the Season award two years in a row (2020-21 and 2021-22). In doing so, he became the first player to retain the award since Thierry Henry in 2005.

Saka's performances for Arsenal have also translated well for his national side. The 21-year-old has registered eight goals and seven assists in 26 games for England. He also won the Three Lions' Men's Player of the Year award for 2022.
