Chelsea will reportedly decide gaffer Mauricio Pochettino's future at the club in the coming days. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will prioritise signing a young coach over an experienced one if they sack the Argentine.

The west London club found its groove towards the end of the season, finishing their Premier League campaign with five straight wins. Pochettino's men secured a European spot for themselves by finishing sixth in the league.

The European competition they compete in will depend on the result of the FA Cup final on May 25 at Wembley Stadium. If Manchester City win, Chelsea will compete in the UEFA Europa League; they'll be demoted to the Europa Conference League if Manchester United defeat their cross-city rivals.

Despite their strong finish to the season, the club owners may be unsatisfied with sixth-place finish, considering upwards of £1billion has been spent in three transfer windows since 2022.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will bring in a younger manager if they sack Pochettino. However, the report suggests that the club is still prioritising keeping Pochettino at Stamford Bridge and giving him more time to get the most out of the squad at his disposal.

Recent reports have claimed that Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is in contention for the managerial position if Pochettino is sacked.

Chelsea have reportedly identified two managers as replacements for Mauricio Pochettino

According to a report by the Evening Standard, the Blues have identified Ruben Amorim and Kieran McKenna as replacements should the former Tottenham Hotspur manager depart.

The former is coming off of a Primeira Liga title with Sporting CP, while the latter got Ipswich Town promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.

According to the report, Chelsea have been linked with Amorim for a while now. The Blues were targeting him before Pochettino was brought on board and while Graham Potter was still at the helm of the club.

McKenna is still in his first senior managerial role. However, he's also been linked with Manchester United, where he previously worked as assistant manager, should Erik ten Hag be sacked following the FA Cup.
