According to reports, French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is on a quest to become the richest club in the world by 2016-17 season.
French newspaper Le Parisien cited a confidential document which showed the club’s plan reach a budget of €540 million by 2016. PSG’s current budgets lies around €430 million which is already four time over the figure of €93.9 million in 2010 before they were taken over by Qatar Sports Investments.
The newspaper added that the club’s sponsorship deal with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will be instrumental in the plans for a boosted budget. The deal which was officially announced last week is reportedly worth between €150 million and €200 million per year. But the deal will be subjected to UEFA’s financial fair play (FFP) as there are allegations of it undermining the FPP rules.
